Gold Coast is an ideal holiday destination because of its warm climate, the beautiful beaches and sparkling waters along its coastline. It is one of Australia’s top tourist spots and thousands of tourists spend their vacation here every year. Knowing this, it is important to arrange the important things in advance if you are planning to go on a holiday to the Gold Coast.

First, if you have finally decided to have your holiday vacation at the Gold Coast, start by booking your flights early. Many airline companies have promos and discounts for travellers who make early bookings. There are several airline companies offering flights to Gold Coast Airport so make sure you choose from the best deals.

Lastly, after you have finished arranging the first two steps, you can now make a checklist of things you’ll need there. Since the sun is shining bright during the Gold Coast summer, it is very advisable to include sunscreen, hat and sunglasses in your checklist. Check your passport or visa is up to date and valid. Don’t forget clothes and swimmers and appropriate shoes for the activities you want to do. Finally, don’t forget to include pocket money on the list, because you’ll also pay for your dining, transportation around the place, entrance to the theme parks and purchase mementos for your friends!

Splendour in the Grass Review

Have you reviewed your Gold Coast must-sees lately? So, there’s the golden sand, the blue waters and the lush green forest. Well, all of these look too much for you to have but then, after trying out the excitement with the sand, water, and trees, you might also wish to add some more fun with Splendour in the Grass!!

Splendour in the Grass is a festival of music, arts and culture that has just celebrated its tenth year this year. For its first 9 years, Belongil Fields campground in Byron Bay was the venue for this annual event. Now, Splendour in the Grass moved to a new, albeit temporary, venue – Woodfordia in Woodford Queensland – a venue that can accommodate up to 30,000 visitors and campers.

With this change, Splendour in the Grass offered a bigger event this year, and for over three days starting Saturday, July 31 2010, Woodfordia was transformed into an arts hub, as its atmosphere was filled with great Aussie and international music and performers. Sing, dance, groove, and let your hair down in this spectacle of culture and arts. Alongside this, there were venues that showcased the best of Australian and world arts and cuisine. So, if you want to celebrate culture in its greatness, head to the grass next year in 2011!

If you opt not to camp, let not your great Aussie experience wear off even as you take your much deserved rest after a tiring yet fruitful day. Cap your day with the comforts that only Chevron Towers Resort can provide. This world class resort that stands in the heart of Surfers Paradise can offer you the ultimate relaxation, preparing your worn out yet happy spirits into a brand new level of excitement. Where else can you find this, but only in the Gold Coast?

Celebrate the arts in the Gold Coast Eisteddfod

Australia may be the smallest continent on earth, but I tell you, once you’re there, everything seems to be in a large scale. When it comes to performing arts, nothing would surpass the grandness of the Gold Coast Eisteddfod, the largest Australian festival celebrating the beauty of dance, music, speech, and drama. Yearly, this festival for the performing arts attracts more than 60,000 participants – a proof that in Australia, nobody settles for anything less.

Imagine more than a thousand dance groups, one hundred and sixty-nine choirs, three hundred bands, and a host of orchestras and instrumental groups from all over Australia gathering at the Gold Coast Arts Centre as well as in other large venues such as the Albert Waterays and Robina Community Centre for a period of seven weeks – with all these, the Gold Coast has literally sprung into a living art form!

Eisteddfod has really come a long way since Paul Sharatt conceived the idea of gathering the best of the best young artists from all over Australia into one festival to showcase their talents in 1982. Sharatt may have passed away last year, but his legacy endures. In fact, for this year, his memory shall still be present at Eisteddfod as an annual award with his namesake which shall be awarded to the Most Outstanding Vocal Performer, aged 16 years and above, in the Popular/Musical Theatre sections.

Be a patron of the arts yourself and celebrate the Gold Coast Eisteddfod. This festival will run from August 4 – September 16, 2010.  Of course, make sure that your stay in the Gold Coast will truly be one memorable event for you by coupling your festival experience with the comforts of living. Chevron Towers Resort, a prized gem in the heart of Surfers Paradise, will answer to this, and surely you’d want to come back in this home again and again for another dose of arts, Australian style.

Travel and transportation options to the Gold Coast

Often, I regard travelling as that part of my holiday which I hate the most, especially when I find out I’m lost after hours of driving, or if my flight is delayed, or luggage is lost. In these cases, travel insurance is essential and you will be glad you have it, especially if you are travelling in a foreign country. Make sure that you have a checklist of your clothes and books to read, phone chargers and other essential items before you pack up and travel to the Gold Coast.

The Gold Coast is accessible through many means of transport. In case you’re in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Newcastle, Canberra or Cairns, you may want to book a quick and direct plane flight to the Gold Coast Airport. The city’s airport is open to accommodate you with over 45 flights a day.

Be in your summer getup if you opt to try the sea to the Gold Coast. Travelling by boat is another option you may wish to consider in going to the city. I tell you, being sandwiched by the blue sky and the azure waters is one exhilarating experience. There are cruise ships and sailing tours you can take around the Pacific Ocean, many which dock in Brisbane, only an hour from the Gold Coast.

Once you’ve made it to the Gold Coast, the easiest travel option is by car. If you don’t have wheels of your own, then hire your choice of car from one of the many car hire places throughout the Gold Coast. Keep a map handy and tuck it in your rented car. Hit the roads, and soon enough, you’ll be finding your way around with no problems. Remember that you always drive on the left hand side of the road in Australia!

To plan your activities and attractions in the Gold Coast you may also need some helpful advice. You need not worry, though, as Chevron Towers Resort will assist you in your search. The service staff and staff at the tour desk would be more than willing to help you, giving you extra time to relax amidst the beauty of Queensland.

My day trip from the Gold Coast to Brisbane…

I decided to take a trip up to Brisbane during my Gold Coast holiday, which is located about 70 kilometres north, accessible by train, coach or self driving. I am not saying that the amusements in the Gold Coast are not sufficient to satisfy me, but I believe that there are many attractions I would also like to visit in Brisbane, during my time here in South East Queensland.

So from my apartment in Chevron Towers Resort, I drove myself to Brisbane where the famous Conrad Treasury Casino is located, a beautiful 19th century building. You might be surprised of how the gambling actually happens inside, it is full of excitement.

Taking a short bus ride from the city, I visited the famous Gabba Cricket Ground and caught a game of the Brisbane Lions Australian Rules football team. Afterwards, I went around the Village markets, I bought myself some souvenirs from their arts and crafts.

I tried not to miss and visit the Botanic Gardens and Mt. Cootha Lookout where you find the planetarium and some exotic plants. At night, I did some bar hopping and went to popular night spot Fortitude Valley and Chinatown. I sure did enjoy the best al fresco dining as well.

You may also visit the Southbank Parklands. There are man-made city beaches and lots of shopping malls and restaurants at Southbank along the riverfront. If you want to see a bird’s eye view of Brisbane, you have to take a ride on the Wheel of Brisbane.

There are also the koalas at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary where you can visit lots of koalas and cuddle them. You can also feed lots of kangaroos and rainbow lorikeets. If you are the adventurous type, you can even take hold of a snake. There are lots of dingoes, wombats, echidnas and Tasmanian devils there too.

You may need to spend even more than a day in Brisbane but it is not too far to travel from the Gold Coast. It is certainly nice to return to the Gold Coast and relax back in my apartment at Chevron Towers Resort.

Enjoy a day at White Water World

Not far from Chevron Towers Resort there are a good number of theme parks.  I am very happy that I have decided to stay here in Surfers Paradise. There is one theme park that really amused me. White Water World is water theme park with lots of rides attractions and events. It is one of the Australia’s best water theme parks. My advice to those who will visit the park: bring extra clothing. You will be amazed by the way splashing of water and riding different slides and attractions becomes really fun.

Are you ready for the newest slide the Wedgie? You will be swirling with the rapids on this exciting waterslide. One of the wildest experiences is hanging on to the super tubes in the hydrocoaster, where you have to hang on to stay on this fast water slide. You may also want to try the rip, where up to four of your friends can slide down a water tube together. There is also the Bro slide where you can race your mates to the bottom.

Diving into the Cave of Waves pool is really worth the experience. Or why not try out the surf school where you can learn how to surf the waves. Wiggle Bay is also perfect for the little ones, where children can enjoy a safe miniature water park.

When visiting White Water World, during summer, it is important to remember that you need to plan what things to bring. Your camera should be ready, just in case there is a shot which can be kept a memento. Another important item is your sun shades, while walking and waiting for the children. Third, don’t forget to apply sunscreen.

At the end of the day, I am certainly glad of my accommodation choice, where I can relax in my apartment at Chevron Towers Resort.

Gold Coast: Rejuvenate, Enjoy and Explore

There are three reasons why I choose to visit the Gold Coast and that is to Rejuvenate, Enjoy and Explore.

Rejuvenate. There are a good number of reasons why I come and visit this place and on the top of my list that is to rejuvenate. Why spend more on a vacation if you can’t actually restore your energy and you end up tired after a vacation.  Well, I actually have no worries because I have chosen to stay at Chevron Towers Resort where I can literally just relax and revitalize my weary self. Chevron Towers Resort is surrounded by a good number of places where I can invigorate.  The day spas in Chevron Renaissance Mall are remarkable. It is always good to unwind with a fabulous massage or pampering treatment. Certainly, they offer the best way to refresh you. The pool at Chevron is also nice and always accessible and is surrounded by natural plants, waterfalls, man-made beaches and rocks.

Enjoy. I need not go far because from my apartment at Chevron to have an enjoyable time. I can easily go to the mall, theme parks, casino, beaches, restaurants and cafes.  Name it and the Gold Coast has it.  You can always try your luck in the Las Vegas-type of Casino games.  There are also big-money jackpots in slot machines but enjoyment for me is not just visiting the casino but the best way to enjoy my vacation is eating a hearty meal.  So, I visited the nearest restaurant and simply enjoyed their Australian steak.

Explore. My apartment in Chevron is where I can also access different places which I can explore. Certainly, it is the best place to be because I can easily visit different places like Movie World, Wet ‘n’ Wild and Dream World.  I happened to visit the Adventure Parc on one of my walks around Chevron. One thing is necessary for me to explore and that is access to different places. I took the tourist bus several times and also a taxi from Chevron but real exploration is when I decided to walk around these places, which is easy due to Chevron’s central location in Surfers Paradise.

The annual Broadbeach Jazz and Food Festival

Good food and music are the things I look forward to every time I visit the Gold Coast. The good news is that I found all of it in just one place and that is at the annual Broadbeach Jazz and Food Festival. I have always enjoyed the best and the finest Jazz artists, and I can find them performing throughout different venues in Broadbeach each year in August.

It is really quite near my apartment which is at Chevron Towers Resort in Surfers Paradise. I find Chevron Tower to be the best venue for attending the best Jazz and Food festival because it is just out of the hustle and bustle and noise in Broadbeach during this time of the year.

The festival is peppered with a long line up of jazz musicians and songs. Another event attached to Broadbeach Festival is the food festival where the finest chefs in the land showcase their new culinary inventions to taste.

Moreover, there are award winning dishes made by a host of Celebrity Chefs and a lot of food events are carefully in placed for the festival. This is why Broadbeach is called the dining capital of the Gold Coast. I have always enjoyed the food events where I can get the best deals.

This festival is entirely free and is a public event. You can just stand in the street after dining in one of the restaurants. This is a concert where you do not need a ticket to watch jazz artists like Kate Ceberano perform.

I always choose to stay at Chevron Towers Resort for the Jazz and Food Festival so I have a peaceful apartment to go back to in Surfers Paradise after listening and dancing all day to jazz music in Broadbeach.
