The perfect catch: Fishing in the Gold Coast

Travellers are always looking for something new every time they go on a holiday or vacation. They are at all times on the lookout for activities that are unique and where they’ll have fun and be exhilarated. In the Gold Coast, you will not just enjoy swimming and surfing, as the Gold Coast is constantly offers something fresh to its visitors. One unique activity that your family will find appealing is fishing, because the waters of Gold Coast are also home to a diverse range of marine life.

Chevron Towers Resort gives first-class service to its guests with its apartments which have all of the comforts of home. From here, it’s just a short drive to the several fishing charters in different locations throughout the region. Chevron Towers Resort is conveniently located centrally in the heart of the Gold Coast in Surfers Paradise.

There are a variety of fishing charters to choose from which the tour desk at Chevron Towers Resort can help you to choose and book. Most fishing charters offer affordable whole day or half day packages for an out of the ordinary fishing experience. The package usually includes the boat that will be used for the journey and the necessary fishing equipment such as fishing rods and reels. Trained and professional instructors will accompany you on the trip.

Remember that this is deep sea fishing and it’s very different from the usual fishing on the lakes and rivers. In the river and lakes, the usual catches are small fish like salmon; but in the deep sea, what you will find are the “big ones” hiding on the reefs which include tuna, marlin, and mackerel among others. The instructors will teach you techniques and give you some useful tips in order for you to have the perfect catch. At the end of day, you will surely learn a lot and also enjoy it.

Fishing charters commonly let their customers choose whether to release or keep their catch. If you decided to keep it, you can return to your accommodation at Chevron Towers Resort and turn your catch into a scrumptious dinner!

Chiang Mai Thai: Authentic Thai cuisine in the Gold Coast

The best thing about traveling is that you get to enjoy eating out and this is what makes my life truly electrifying. I decided to stay at Chevron Towers Resort because one of my friends recommended it to me. The apartments are at the heart of Surfers Paradise and very near many restaurants.

I have always enjoyed Asian cuisine, so deciding to stay in Gold Coast for 5 days I have the chance to try out some exotic dishes. The information desk at Chevron Towers Resort recommended I visit Chiang Mai Thai restaurant. It is an authentic Thai restaurant within about 5 minutes walk from the resort.

When I arrived at Chiang Mai Thai, I noticed that it was entirely different because the design is uniquely Thai with the elephants, furniture and traditional Thai decor.

I decided to eat indoors so I can admire the surroundings and also see what other customers are ordering.  Indeed, the restaurant has an extensive selection of dishes to choose from. Every food that they serve there seems to be a special treat for me. All the food attendants are wearing their national dress and they smile all the time. Consequently, I need not worry because they are very much willing to assist me in all my queries.

To start, their chicken and corn soup is splendidly delicious. Their recommended curry dish is a unique blend of spice and sweetness which I found entirely enchanting. Truly, this particular Asian dish is combined with rice all the time. In view of this, I ordered coconut rice which is something new for me. I settled for a simple dessert of Lychees to round off my meal at Chiang Mai Thai.

The price is reasonable and the taste is enticingly exotic. This is a gastronomic treat for me. I can see why this Surfers Paradise restaurant is recommended and would recommend any of my friends to visit here if they are on holiday in the Gold Coast.

Celebrate the arts in the Gold Coast Eisteddfod

Australia may be the smallest continent on earth, but I tell you, once you’re there, everything seems to be in a large scale. When it comes to performing arts, nothing would surpass the grandness of the Gold Coast Eisteddfod, the largest Australian festival celebrating the beauty of dance, music, speech, and drama. Yearly, this festival for the performing arts attracts more than 60,000 participants – a proof that in Australia, nobody settles for anything less.

Imagine more than a thousand dance groups, one hundred and sixty-nine choirs, three hundred bands, and a host of orchestras and instrumental groups from all over Australia gathering at the Gold Coast Arts Centre as well as in other large venues such as the Albert Waterays and Robina Community Centre for a period of seven weeks – with all these, the Gold Coast has literally sprung into a living art form!

Eisteddfod has really come a long way since Paul Sharatt conceived the idea of gathering the best of the best young artists from all over Australia into one festival to showcase their talents in 1982. Sharatt may have passed away last year, but his legacy endures. In fact, for this year, his memory shall still be present at Eisteddfod as an annual award with his namesake which shall be awarded to the Most Outstanding Vocal Performer, aged 16 years and above, in the Popular/Musical Theatre sections.

Be a patron of the arts yourself and celebrate the Gold Coast Eisteddfod. This festival will run from August 4 – September 16, 2010.  Of course, make sure that your stay in the Gold Coast will truly be one memorable event for you by coupling your festival experience with the comforts of living. Chevron Towers Resort, a prized gem in the heart of Surfers Paradise, will answer to this, and surely you’d want to come back in this home again and again for another dose of arts, Australian style.
