Fancy fishing on your Gold Coast holiday?
One of my favourite pastimes is fishing, and on a recent holiday to the Gold Coast I got to do just that. I heard that fishing is a popular activity on the Gold Coast, whether fishing from the beach, off the rocks or out on a charter boat. I booked into Chevron Towers Resort, where I stayed in a well appointed apartment, fully self contained, right in the heart of Surfers Paradise. I was lucky enough to get an apartment where I had ocean views off my own balcony.
Do you still recall the first time you got hold of your hook, line and sinker? I did it once with my father, who was as inexperienced in fishing as I was. We were there by the stream trying to catch a fish. Sad to say, we never got any. This wasn’t the case on my Gold Coast fishing trip though.
Fishing is a popular hobby in Australia, and the government has imposed laws in order to prevent the abuse of its marine life. This sense of protectiveness is never a deterrent, as this only assures any fisher of the quality of fish that they could catch.
Practically, you can fish anywhere – along the Gold Coast canals, on the Broadwater, in the surf from the beach or out on the ocean. The nearby islands along the Gold Coast also extend their arms to any fishing enthusiasts, both beginners and pros.
If you’re thinking of fishing the Aussie way, you better brace yourself for larger game fishing. A little further out from the shore, you’ll be in for larger game fish such as mahi-mahi, marlins, wahoo and yellowfins, all of which could be transformed into delectable dishes to feast on once you return to dry land. However, let me repeat that you must always remember to take caution in harvesting what is the ideal fish size as well as in the allowable quantity.
True enough, fishing is one experience you shouldn’t miss out on your Gold Coast trip if you enjoy it like I did. Especially good was getting home after a wonderful day of fishing to cook up my fresh fish in my apartment at Chevron Towers Resort. They joy of catching a fish rests not only on the mere act, but in realizing how nature gives us such bounty.
