Exploring Tamborine Mountain
In the region of the Gold Coast is Tamborine Mountain. Although the name sounds like it is a musical instrument, it is actually of Aboriginal origin. Since it is not far from my apartment at Chevron Towers Resort, I visited the place which is located in the Gold Coast Hinterland. There is a main street known as Gallery Walk, which is a street full of souvenir shops and cafes, and is the tourist centre of Tamborine Mountain.
I visited not for the shops but for the walking trails which lead through the deepest recesses of the rainforest. I went there for a much needed relaxation and exercise. I went there to see the cliffs and waterfalls and of note is the Curtis Falls rainforest track because of its stunning natural beauty.
While up Tamborine Mountain you can also drop by Thunderbird Park. Children will surely enjoy the park and walks, and especially thunder egg hunting! Doing some short exercises before going to Tamborine Mountain is a good idea, just to avoid those aching joints after the rainforest walks.
An abundance of sunshine is what I really enjoyed with the absence of humidity and heat. This makes the sub-tropical forest different from the forests in Asia. I took some pictures of trees like the Australian Red Cedar and Piccabean Palm. Most common is the Bouginvillea and Fetinia. If you are into bird watching, this is the best place to be because there is variety of parrots, pretty rosellas, whip birds, lorikeets and magpies. This is a place where you can hear many different bird songs. I have encountered possums and I even chanced upon spotting a koala and some wallabies.
Choose a place like Chevron Towers Resort because they provide the necessary services to guide you on your trip to Tamborine Mountain, and also for you to rest well in your apartment after your adventure.
