My day trip from the Gold Coast to Brisbane…
I decided to take a trip up to Brisbane during my Gold Coast holiday, which is located about 70 kilometres north, accessible by train, coach or self driving. I am not saying that the amusements in the Gold Coast are not sufficient to satisfy me, but I believe that there are many attractions I would also like to visit in Brisbane, during my time here in South East Queensland.
So from my apartment in Chevron Towers Resort, I drove myself to Brisbane where the famous Conrad Treasury Casino is located, a beautiful 19th century building. You might be surprised of how the gambling actually happens inside, it is full of excitement.
Taking a short bus ride from the city, I visited the famous Gabba Cricket Ground and caught a game of the Brisbane Lions Australian Rules football team. Afterwards, I went around the Village markets, I bought myself some souvenirs from their arts and crafts.
I tried not to miss and visit the Botanic Gardens and Mt. Cootha Lookout where you find the planetarium and some exotic plants. At night, I did some bar hopping and went to popular night spot Fortitude Valley and Chinatown. I sure did enjoy the best al fresco dining as well.
You may also visit the Southbank Parklands. There are man-made city beaches and lots of shopping malls and restaurants at Southbank along the riverfront. If you want to see a bird’s eye view of Brisbane, you have to take a ride on the Wheel of Brisbane.
There are also the koalas at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary where you can visit lots of koalas and cuddle them. You can also feed lots of kangaroos and rainbow lorikeets. If you are the adventurous type, you can even take hold of a snake. There are lots of dingoes, wombats, echidnas and Tasmanian devils there too.
You may need to spend even more than a day in Brisbane but it is not too far to travel from the Gold Coast. It is certainly nice to return to the Gold Coast and relax back in my apartment at Chevron Towers Resort.
